Words from your Exchequer

Greetings unto the Greatest Barony in the known world….
I, your exchequer, come to you with requests.
Officers I need your budget request ASAP or a budget will be chosen for you!

If you have check requests I need those by December 10th, 2017.  So I can write all checks and get them to you and have them cashed before Dec 25th, 2017. I would like to have all checks in and taken care of ASAP. This way nothing carries over into the new year.
I will not be writing any checks at the Dec meeting. I need all requests sent to me, and I will mail you the check after myself and the Senachal sign them. Because of how late the December meeting is.
If you have a Baronial Check you  have not cashed. PLEASE DO SO ASAP!
By doing so this enables myself and my deputy to complete the End of Year  financial report in a timely and effective manner.
Please email me at

Shawna: Good practice. There have been 2 events. Have already submitted quarterly report. Will continue thru-out October, weather permitting. Keep an eye Facebook & Postern Gate. I am submitting a request for a 1 year extension as there is no one to take over. Baron Gernon asked how long she has been the marshal and her response was 3 years.

Angharat: Tournaments at Lord Defenders. Forms are going into quarterly report. Nothing coming up.

Web Minister
Aleksii: Website is back up. Having many issues with the An Tir server. Same file got corrupted as last time. Going to start looking at other web hosting services that are more reliable. Reminder if posting about an event, send to Aleksii and Audny and it should be set up within 24 Hrs. Alekssi will add Audny to the email forwarding from the website.

Elizabeth: Sewing night is moving back to Monday night. Sergeants Trials is coming up. Start thinking about Kingdom A&S or competing at Embers.

Gold Key
Given by Audny: I still have 6 boxes of general donations and not suitable garb. Rachel has the suitable boxes for events. I would like to do a garage sale at Candelmas.
Thomasina: Scribe have been busy since before Autumn War thru Lord Defenders. We are doing some Kingdom Charters. Scribal night resumes 10/12/17 @ the Tacoma Star Center. November Scribal Night will be the last one this year. We traditionally take December off.

Family Activities

Jazod: Traier went to Lord Defenders with no issues. Denny delivered it and Scott went through and straightened it out. Everything is okay. We still need insurance on the trailer for storage. It is on the Exchequers list. We get commercial insurance based on the address of storage. His Excellency requested to get it with the current address of storage and change it later if we move facilities.

Baron and Baroness
Baroness was not present.
Baron: Lord Defender was good. The food was excellent. If you missed it you missed out on a great event.

The Baron read a letter from the Seneschal stating that due to mundane life she is unable to extend her warrant for seneschal. We will be taking applications & resumes from today thru 12/1. Interviews will be in December & January. Decision will be made by 1/27/17 with the changeover at Candelmas.

Last Event –
Lord Defenders – Berwyn: Income was $910. Expenses were $1,795 for a total loss of $885.38. Everyone that attended liked the smoked pig.

Next Event –
Sergeants Trails will be at Sgt. Edmund Graham’s house. Parking is sparse to non-existent so please carpool. There is 1 candidate form BAO and 1 candidate from Wyewood. We would like to get a pavilion from the Chatelain. Please bring pop-ups if you have one. Don’t forget your chair. There will be a potluck dinner. We will have Heavy & Rapier fighting to test the candidates. Site fee is $15 with $5 member discount.

Harvest Feast – Site is amazing. Separate room for kitchen & classes. It is a 2 part kitchen split into cooking & cleaning so no one will get their head bitten off for rinsing dishes. Court will be in a separate area. We will put out a call for instructors. Would like a YAFA class

2019 Kingdom A&S was thinking about putting in a bid and wondering if the Barony would support that? The Baron supports the idea. Would like to see us start discussing it.

HONEY WAR coming very soon!

Just a few more days until our annual war with Glymm Mere.

They are going to be checking fighter authorizations at the event.  If you need a fighter card, this coming Tuesday, June 24th, we will have marshals at the BAO fight practice to be able to sign off on your card.  Of course, you should ALWAYS have your fighter card at any event that has fighting at it.

… Yeah, it took a while.  I learned much more about this WordPress than I ever really wanted to, but it’s now functional and should work not only with your computer but with your smartphones, tablets, etc. as well.

Greetings unto the Greatest Populace in the Known World

I made an announcement at Candlemas which I would like to repeat for all to hear.
Our Great and Noble King Styrkarr and Queen Stjarna has proclaimed the rules of the list for Antir’s next Crown Tournament in May. In summary they are:
• All An Tir legal weapons and shields will be allowed

• ALL combatants and ALL consorts in the May Crown Tourney must have a name AND device either registered or “in submission” through the College of Heralds
In order to encourage compliance with this requirement, any combatant or consort who declares a financial hardship with the fees associated with the heraldic submission, will have their submission fees paid from the personal account of the King and Queen. This is our gift to our subjects to encourage persona development and the use of personal heraldry to the betterment of Our Kingdom.
To declare a financial hardship you must merely tell the consulting Herald at the time of submission. No questions asked.

• All combatants in May Crown Tournament shall have a painted shield board bearing their registered (or in-submission) device on the front and the name of the combatant on the back. (this is the small shields used on the pairings board)

Now please allow me to speak to heraldic submissions aspect of these requirements. I have always believed that the registration of a name and device brings so much to the game that we all play and love. It adds to the ambiance and historical feel of the events we attend. It also makes it feel as if each one of us in personally contributing to the dream. I feel that it is important enough that I make it mandatory for my squires and other vessel’s to do. So as you can imagine I love this aspect of the Crown requirements.

But the fact that our King and Queen are willing to this back up by personally helping those who would like to fight in the List but could not because of added finical burden is truly inspirational. This is the true face of Chivalry and Nobility.

In fact, in a poor attempt to emulate this deed, ALL the Knights of Blatha An Oir would like to make this gesture. For those members of the populace of BAO who are not fighting in the May Crown Tournament and therefore cannot take advantage of the Kings generosity, the Chivalry of the Barony will sponsor up to ten submissions to the herald for either name or device or both. There are no requirements to take up this offer, just please let me, any other Knight of the Barony, or our baronial submissions herald know that you would like to do so. It is our truest hope that we can help you and help our barony live the dream we all share.

Humbly yours in Service
Sir Gernon, Baron of Blatha An Oir
Sir Michael
Sir Aleksii
Sir Warin
Sir Guy
Sir Loethgar
