Harvest Feast

Unto the greatest Kingdom in the Known World, I bring you greetings from the fair golden blossom of the Kingdom, the Barony of Blatha An Oir. All are invited to join us as we celebrate the bounty of the harvest this season and fill the feast hall with good food and good cheer.

This year the theme is a Spanish Feast. The head cook is Bellanette de Villaverde and in keeping with the Spanish tradition she has planned to tantalize your senses with not 3 courses, not even 4 courses but with an offering of 5 courses. I say senses as this will not only be a tantalizing feast for your palate, but also for your eyes as any proper feast should be. Bellanette and the fine gentles that have volunteered to help her in the kitchen will be preparing the food as follows.


First course:
Pomegranate deviled eggs,
Marinated cheese pearls
Smoked olives

Second course:
Spinach and Herb Salad
Leek soup

Third course:
Chicken boiled in lime juice
Ahrash (Spiced Meatballs)
Salcero para Perdius o Gallines en Ast (Almond & Pomegranate Sauce)
Tri-colored Rice

Fourth course:
Roasted pork with cheese stuffing
Barley risotto

Fifth course:
Pomegranate marzipan pomegranates


We will also be collecting new un-wrapped toys for Toys for Tots and Nonperishable food items for the local food bank. Let us show our caring and bounty to those around us who are enduring hard times and can use a helping hand during the lean months of winter.

And of course, we will be having our much-anticipated Dessert Auction the proceeds of which will go to a The American Cancer Society for who amongst us has not been touched by cancer in some way. All donations from the dessert auction need to be with cash or a check made out to American Cancer Society only, preferably with a check. The dessert auction will begin after the appetizers have been served. The Squires of His Excellency Baron Sir Gernon Valletort du Harfleur and Sir Aleksii Konstantinovich Chernoi will be the auctioneers for the dessert auction.

Remember, Bid High and Bid Often, it’s for a good cause.

The site will open at 10:00 am and there will be classes and games available to keep you occupied before the dinner is served. A vegetable pottage will be available for lunch so be sure and bring a bowl so you can enjoy it.


10:00am Gate opens

11am – Noon   Basic Heraldry taught by Countess Lyssa Meldwaed. Handouts will be provided for the first 12 people.

Noon – 1pm   Basic Embroidery led by Elizabeth Fitzwilliam of Carlisle. Students should bring a basic sewing kit and any items you wish to embellish.

1pm – 3pm   Scribal table will be available for demonstrations and you can ask questions or try your hand at illuminating.

1pm  – 2pm  Alizand Thorgeirsson will be leading an open discussion and introduction to the Youth and Family Achievement program. If you have kids this is a great chance to have your questions answered and find out about the program.

You may bring table decorations if you wish but it is not encouraged as the tables and the hall will be decorated when you arrive. Enclosed candles are allowed. You do however need to bring your own table service, plate, eating utensils and drinking vessel.


This event is Pre-register only as there are a limited number of seats available, so register early. The registration dead line (check and form received) is November 9th so that our cooks have time to acquire the right amount of food they will be preparing for all to enjoy.

Event fees, feast included:

Adults, 18 & older: $30 Current Adult members receive a $5 discount. Proof of membership required.

Youth, (13-17): $15.00

Children (5-12): $10.00

Children (0-4): FREE

Those under 18 receive discounted prices to cover the cost of the food.

DO NOT send cash through the mail. If you must pay with cash, contact the Event Steward so that arrangements can be made.

What to include with your pre-registration:
SCA name, Modern name, Branch, Adult, Youth or Child, SCA Membership number and expiration date (including a copy of your membership card would be helpful and extremely appreciated), an email address so that we can confirm that your registration has been received and finally the amount paid for each person.
